Yay! Book 9, An Argumentation of Historians is finished and is now Accent Press bound. So I get to put my feet up for a day or so. Only for a day or so, of course, and then full steam ahead with the sequel to White Silence and yes, Book 10 of the Chronicles. I have a busy year ahead of me.

In other news, I’m off to Afternoon Tea at Octavo’s on Saturday. I’m really looking forward it. There will be tea and delicious cakes and, I hope, sandwiches with the crusts cut off. With luck, I’ll get to chat to loads of people and if you can’t be there but still have questions, ask them here and I’ll do my best.

And then – we have a bit of fun planned for Sunday morning. Does anyone remember the two tiny stories I knocked out last year when I should have been working? Desiccated Water and Markham and the Anal Probing. People really seemed to like them so I shall be recording them. Apparently, Hazel knows someone with a big mike. No idea what that’s about.

And isn’t Christmas Past doing well! Huge thanks to everyone who’s pre-ordered.

  1. I’ve already posted this in the FB group, but am I being greedy by asking for another Isabella Barclay novel as well?? I loved ‘A Bachelor Establishment’. Keep up the great work Jodi! 🙂

  2. I am a relative newbie to St Marys but am ploughing through the books at a rate of knots. I applaud you Jodi Taylor for exceptional quality AND quantity in your writing. Masses of thanks for all your hard work and for providing so many hours-worth of well-spent reading. As with St Marys, I salute you.

    • Thank you – that’s very kind of you. Hard work, but worth it. It’s nice that people enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

  3. If I’ve read (and purchased) everything you’ve published in the past, will I have all the stories in this already?

    • I don’t think so. These are to tiny stories – only a couple of hundred words each – that I posted on the Fans of St Mary’s FB page when I should have been doing something more productive. I was bored is my only excuse. People liked them, however, and keep asking about them so I’m recording them on Sunday morning. With the man and his big mike.

  4. I LOVE your stories, especially St. Mary’s chronicles! Max and the gang seem like old friends that I love to visit, and I’m always looking forward to the next one. It’s a wonderful escape from reality when I need one.

  5. Newby Jodi Taylor fans might not appreciate at what an incredible rate you write. your average is around 4 books every year since Just One Damned Thing After Another, isn’t it?

It isn’t the reason you’ve overtaken the likes of Robin Hobb and Michael Connelly as my absolute favourite author, but it didn’t do any harm either. You’ve just got everything it takes, including the rarest of all talents, the ability to do a little catch-up on previous books seamlessly, without treating the readers as though they were budding Markhams. On the subject of catch-up …

Could you possibly do me a favour? I want to review a new author’s books, which sadly get heavier on previous book retrospectives with each new book in the series. I don’t know what to call these retrospectives without sounding like a blithering idiot.

Wish I could be in Cardiff to meet you this afternoon. I’ll be more careful about checking out when you’re around and won’t miss the next one. We’ll both like that, because I make good chocolates. Hope it’s another super successful day for you and everyone there.

  6. Are the two short ones, Dessicated Water (the mind boggles) and Markham and the Anal Probing (not only does the mind boggle but the eyes water too!!), going to be available on Kindle?

  7. Rather chuffed to have the first review of “Christnas Past” on Amazon!

    5 star obv.

Great listen this morning on the A30 over Bodmin on the way to Falmouth to pick up student son for Christmas (oh for a pod that would get me from Hertfordshire to west Cornwall, but failing that Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm are a pretty good second best!).
